Purpose

The primary purpose of freshmen SOMS class visits is to make freshmen aware of Valor, who we are, what we do, and invite them to be a part of it.

Goal

The primary goal is to have as many freshman cadets as possible fill out the Valor survey so that we can follow-up with them. Remember! If they don't fill out the survey, we cannot get them connected to Valor!

Introduction & Invite to Fill Out Valor Survey

You have 3-5 minutes to tell the freshmen about Valor. Do a quick introduction. Introduce yourself and tell them you are a leader with Valor. Briefly describe what Valor is (e.g. a Christian community on the Quad that has over a dozen small group Bible studies going on throughout the week in the LLCs). After briefly introducing yourself and Valor, tell everyone to pull out their phones and text corps2027 to 85005.  That will send them our Valor survey. Let them fill out the survey as you talk more about Valor.

Sharing About Valor As Freshmen Fill Out the Survey

You have a lot of freedom at this point to highlight your favorite things about Valor. Here are some ideas:
  • You can talk about your personal experience in Valor such as how our Christian community has helped you grow in your walk with the Lord.
  • You can list all of the opportunities Valor provides for spiritual growth and community such as family dinners, worship nights, community events, discipleship groups, conferences, retreats, and mission trips.
  • You can focus on a particular aspect of Valor that you really like such as we are devoted to studying the Word together, praying together, fellowship on and off the Quad, and helping each other walk through life together (i.e. iron sharpens iron)
